Domestic Violence: You're Not Alone

I'm missing two mirrors in my car because my ex couldn't control his anger. Those were two of the times he didn't take it out on me. Tell somebody. Fear is strong, but you are stronger. People say you're weak, you're stupid.. But you are so strong. Don't let him keep taking pieces from you. Make a plan, tell a friend, and work on becoming whole again. We all know about domestic violence and abuse.. We just choose not to talk about it. But the ladies who are in the relationship need a voice. We see it all the time on the news, in the NFL, and in celebrity couples. But, our own friends could be enduring through it, not saying anything out of fear and we'd never know. I didn't tell anyone till I was out of the relationship. You see, people don't stay in abusive relationships because they're stupid. They're smart. They're scared. They don't know how to leave. When you're in the relationship, you usually don't even notice the signs until they've already happened and you feel stuck. But you're not. We always have someone protecting us, cheering us on, and loving on us. It's God. He's our ultimate Protector, Defender, and Support System.

1 out of 3 women will be abused at some point in their life.
• About 4,000 women die each year due to domestic violence.
• Of the total domestic violence homicides, about 75% of women were killed while trying to leave the relationship or after it had ended.
73% of male abusers were abused as children.

It's time to take a stand and speak for the weak! There's a reason all of this is still happening and it's because we're all sitting around doing nothing about it.
As a Christian, it is our job to watch out for our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. If they stray away, we should hold them accountable. If they are hurting, we should mourn with them. If they are being abused or neglected, we should take our place in the Body of Christ and do all we can to help them.

You wouldn't think the Bible talks about these things, but it does. God knew what sin would do and is doing to this world and He made sure we had the knowledge to fix it.

(1 Corinthians 13:4-7)

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

(Psalm 11:5)

The Lord tests the righteous, but his soul hates the wicked and the one who loves violence.

(Galatians 5:19-21)

Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

(Romans 12:17-21)

Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
